Chanwar
Chaur is a Punjabi word which refers to the tuft at the end a lion's tail when raised to wave high over its head, or a yak's tail waved as a fly whisk. The word chaur is related as much to the action of brushing, fanning, whisking, or waving high over head as to the object being whisked, waved, fanned, or brushed. In historic times, a chaur whisk would customarily have been used to fan royalty. A yak tail could also designate rank among members of the Mughal dynasty.
In Sikhism, Chaur Sahib refers to a ceremonial whisk waved high over the Guru GranthSahib, to reverently fan the scripture, by whomever is serving as an attendant. Chaur Sahib is a required article to be kept in the vicinity of where ever Guru Granth Sahib is installed. The chaur may be any size and is usually make of yak's hair, or tail, fixed to a simple or decorative wooden or metallic handle.
Kamandal
Kamandal or kamandalam is an oblong water pot made of a dry gourd (pumpkin) or coconut shell, metal, wood of the Kamandalataru tree,[2] or from clay, usually with a handle and sometimes with a spout. Hindu ascetics or yogis often use it for storing drinking water.[3] The water-filled kamandalu, which is invariably carried by ascetics, is stated to represent a simple and self-contained life.
The kamandalu also used in Hindu iconography, in depiction of deities related with asceticism or water. It is, thus, viewed as a symbol of ascetism in Hinduism. The kamandalu is also used by Jain monks and in depictions of some bodhisattvas.
Khappar
Some Sadhus live in cremation grounds and eat food served only once in their Khappar (a bowl made of half the portion of coco-de-la-mer, the coconut of the sea).
KHAPPAR MEY KHAYE, MUSHAN ME LETEY,
USKI POOJA KAUN METEY?
RAJA METEY RAAJ PAAT SEY JAAYE,
PRAJA METEY DOODH POOT SEY JAAYE,
YOGI METEY YOG-YUKTI SEY JAAYE….
As these saying goes, no one can disturb a Sadhu who eats in a Khappar and sleeps in the cremation grounds.
A king would lose his kingdom, people would lose their livelihood, their children, and a yogi would lose his knowledge, if they tried to hurt such a Sadhu.
